This time with half the amount of batter mix I used last week. Fingers crossed it's better.

Well Joanie you have convinced me to try the toad in the hole, when we went to supermarket tonight I bought some sausages, so with luck me and daughter will be having it for tea tomorrow......Yvonne xxx

I did 4oz of plain flour, 4floz of milk and 2 eggs with some salt and pepper to taste if that's any help. Then I fried the sausages just to brown them and put it all in the oven for 35 minutes.

Yes, Yvonne, it was thick. It's supposed to be for toad in the hole apparently. Perhaps the size of dish was too small. It's only supposed to just cover the sausages in it. It rises above it in the...

When I make it I use a dish big enough for the batter to just make a thin layer across the dish, not even a third of the way up the sausages. Any more than that and it is like a thick solid mass...

The recipe I followed said to just cover the sausages, but I think not even covering them would be better still. Any left over batter mix can always have a little drop of water added to it so a couple...

My eldest son used to love individual yorshire pud with butter and syrup on (my mum in laws influence). So he had a couple with gravy on his dinner plate and a couple more for his pud lol.
